Where will your donation go?

Pepea Trust received 450 square meters of land from a kind and generous small-holder farmer. We desire to utilize this land for the benefit of Deep Sea residents and others like them, who exist precariously with the very real and previously experienced threats of losing their dwellings (tin shacks) to demolitions.

The planned building will be held by a trust with very specific statutory purposes to prevent any change of the intended use and to ensure that it will remain forever at the service of the original beneficiaries. To this end, we have decided to include in the board of directors not only people who have spent their lives dedicating themselves to those on the margins but also the poor people of the slum.

Pepea project offers a holistic solution to problems affecting people living in slums and other informal settlements and takes special care to foster self-esteem and critical thinking in them.

Pepea Trust will also share in the management of the building in collaboration with other charitable entities: Rainbow For Africa UK (an NGO of medical personnel located in UK), Engim (an Italian NGO), the Missionary Centre of the Friars Minor of Puglia and Molise (Italy), Afrika Pendaneni Limited (a profit-sharing company run by the entrepreneurial workers of Deep Sea), Deep Sea Simama CBO (a Community Based Organisation in the slum) and ‘I Care’ Don Milani Association (an unformal association of teachers who teach in Deep sea).
